Truth is Stranger Than Fiction, Judgy Wudgy

So the White House and the supposed economic “experts” (but I repeat myself) are surprised at the bad job numbers in December.  I can’t believe they are that ignorant.  No one does what they have for a full year and expects good results in the job market.  Borrowing and spending a record amount of other people’s money, running up a record deficit, and raising taxes on top of a recession are recipes for the disaster that has taken place.

I can’t recall who it was that said it is impossible for government to stimulate any kind of economic growth, because in order to put into the private sector, it must first take out.  If the government takes out 300 million dollars and then puts it back in, who wins?  Oh that’s right, government does.

I do know it was Winston Churchill that said, “I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.”

Yet now, with the news that all Obama and the congress have tried has only made things worse, their solution is more government involvement!  Doesn’t that make you all warm and fuzzy inside?  Among the bigger things the government wants to do to create more jobs is…extending unemployment benefits?

These people are not idiots.  They know a lot more about economics than they let on.  But they also know that while people are afraid, they will trust government more than they should to make things right.  And boy, have they capitalized on that.  It’s only a matter of time, of course, before the public wakes up and in anger throws the whole lot of them out of office.  The only question is, how bad will things be by then?
